Inconsciencia completa inducida en un paciente quirúrgico antes de administrar la anestesia general. El estado de inconsciencia inducida es menos profundo que el de la anestesia general. El paciente no responde a estímulos verbales, aunque es capaz de responder a estímulos molestos.
